I agree with you, especially in the sense that the cancel culture has caused the Left to become more intolerant and judgmental. This defeats the openness to others and perpetuates the cycles of violence we are witnessing. Luckily, I believe Biden is striving towards a message of inclusivity and tolerance. And let's not forget, unconditional positive regard should be the operational attitude from both the left and the right. But sadly, I think we're beyond that, and moderates like us get drowned out.

I'm glad you found your way to this article! I had meant to recommend it to you, but didn't get around to it.

I agree that some people have probably become too angry and entrenched in their views to reach. But I hope that we might be able win back some of those who aren't quite lost, and build up a solid core of people committed to civility and cooperation who can serve as a bulwark against the spread of radicalization. Polarization seems to be self perpetuating. People who are angry and behaving badly go around pissing other people off and spreading the disease. But I think that it can work the other way too. People being actively kind and civil can spread calm and goodwill. Or so I hope :)
